Get Well Soon - Mojo Monday 149

So I'm at it again. I made another card using Create A Critter. But this time I didn't use the actual critter. I just love these flowers. I just had to use them somehow and I've been trying to figure out how. Well, also as you can see I've been using the Mojo Monday Sketches a lot lately as well.

This sketch I started before I had a Cricut cut in mind for the focal point. Once I made my paper choices I thought a flower would be great for the focal point. I knew the squares were going to small but thought these flowers would look great extending out past them. I'm really glad I went with this decision. I am really happy with the results.

My quilting project for my son

I made this agreement with my son a while back that I would make him a quilt and that I had to have it done by September 22, one month before his birthday. I had decided on the Flying Geese design. So I started it months and months ago. Then put it way because I just wanted to do something else (make cards...ha ha). Now I only about a month left. Finishing the top will be easy but the quilting is what will the pain in the butt. Needless to say I will be working away at it the next few weeks. I will post pictures of my progress. Below are all my Flying Geese that I have to sew into strips. I saw these fabrics into Joann's and just love them. They are all from the same collection.

I might even get started this week piecing all the geese together. You will have to wait and see.

Thank you Card - Mojo Monday 150

Happy Sunday!!! I've been busy this weekend. I've been cleaning up and organizing my new sewing room. My son a few months ago wanted to switch rooms. So we moved my sewing room upstairs and his bedroom down stairs. I like it this way as now my sewing room is across the hall from my craft rooom. Yes...I'm lucky that I have two extra rooms to dedicate entirely to my crafting obsessions. I'm hoping now that my sewing room is upstairs and not in the basement
that I will sew more. I'll keep my fingers crossed...but I really love making cards also.

Today I finally made a card using something else besides the Create a Critter cartridge. This card is a Mojo Monday Sketch (#150) and I used Home Accents for the butterfly.

Mojo Monday 151 - Another Create A Critter

I'm late posting today...ha ha. Actually, I've been trying to post ahead of time and scheduling the post. So yesterday I didn't get a chance to sit down and post. So I am posting todays post today.

So here is another Mojo Monday card and Create A Critter all in one. I've wanted to use that cute penquin since I bought the cartridge. I had a hard time with this one. I just wasn't sure about the colors and papers. But over all I am happy with it.

Mojo 152 - What's Up

Day three using the Create a Critter. I was browsing the Mojo Monday blog and when I saw sketch 152 I really liked it. So after choosing to use this sketch I had to think of where I wanted to go with it. Becasue the focal point of the sketch is a long oval I thought the Giraffe would be perfect, plus I knew I had a stamp that said "What's Up". I just couldn't resist...

I used all scraps again. I am so excited that I've been able to use up so many of my scraps. I'm also loving these wiggle eyes I bought for my last card. I used them on this one as well.

Nuts About You

So here is another take on the Mojo Monday 89. I decided to move the square and circle around. For this I almost used only scraps. I picked out my ribbon first and when I went to get paper to mat the square and circle...guess what???? I didn't have any scraps that matched. And let me tell you I had a hard time matching the paper to the ribbon. After trying 4 different papers I finally found one I thought matched good enough. My craft room gets really good light during the day, but at night its not the best and it was 9:30 pm when I was doing this. Today I decided to add wiggle eys to the squirrel and was to lazy to take new pictures (maybe I'll do it later and post later...). While I was piecing this together, I just wanted to add something else and finally decided to go with the clouds. I inked the clouds with Distressed Faded Jeans blue ink. I hand wrote the sentiment with a Zig pen, the brown stitching on the square and circle I used a Staedtler triplus fineliner and the white stitching is done with a American Crafts white gel pen.

I'm having tons of fun lately. I go through periods where I just am not in the mood to craft. But lately I've been on a roll. I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Mojo Monday 89

Well I have an update of the card I posted yesterday...The lady I made the card for called me today. She loved the card. It made me feel really good that she called just to tell me that. I will miss working with her.

So today I was inspired by a Mojo Monday Sketch. This is from a while ago (not sure the date at the moment). I used only scrap papers for this card today. I've been trying to do that with all my cards but this is the first one I was successful with. I added some ribbon and buttons that I rarely use. I really need to start using these more. Lastly I have to say that I'm really loving the Create A Critter cartridge. I just wish I had those wonderful stamps from My Pink Stamper...but tend to spend my crafting allowance on cartridges and paper (lol). Doesn't leave anything for more stamps.

The only think I was disapointed with is that when I went to erase my pencil line where I wrote "You're a Hoot" I didn't wait long enough and I smeared the ink a little. Plus I had already attached everything to the from of the card so I couldn't change it. Well ya live and learn.

Thanks for Visiting,

Valerie

Birdie...Good Luck

So, I was asked to make a card for a girl at work who will be leaving our company. I didn't want it to be too mushy. I wanted to use my Create a Critter cartride because it is one of my new cartrides. (I really need to use some of the others...I bought 4 all about the same time and this is the only one I've used).

What a "Duh" moment and a scraplifted card

I was on my way to work this morning when at a stop sign I saw a box truck drive by with the letters LSS on the side. Now I know this stands for Lansing Sanitary Supply because the company I work for purchases their cleaning supplies through them. But it hit me that I've seen the letters LSS in Blog posts and posts on the Cricut Message Board. I've always wondered what that stood for because I knew they didn't mean the cleaning company. Well it finally occurred to me that it stands for Local Scrapbook Store. It was like "Duh" what took you so long dummy? I just thought I would share that with you. I'm really not usually that slow.

Anyway...Here is a card that I totally scraplifted from My Pink Stamper. I was looking for an idea to use my new Create a Critter cartridge and although I don't usually do a complete scraplift, I just liked this one so much that I did. I did change out the border punch since I didn't have the one that Robyn used. Plus I don't have her wonderful stamps, so I improvised and printed the sentiment from my computer before I cut the paper to size.

Hang in There

I made this card for a friend of the family, Gerry. His wife was recently diagnosed with cancer. I know that this is really rough for him to keep on track of her doctors appointements and making sure she has everything she needs. So I wanted to send a little note to him to let him know that both of them are in my thoughts and prayers. I also am sending a card for his wife Sandy. (I'll post that tomorrow).

For this card I used I only used the Cricut Cartridge, Create A Critter for the Monkey and the vines.

Get Well Card

I wanted to have a get well card on hand and also wanted to practice my Copic coloring. This is my second card that I used stitches. Not something I think I will do very often. I like the look but it's just not the look I think I will use very often. I really like how this one turned out.

For this card I used:

Digi Stamp: Little Helping Hands from Karen Doodles
Designer paper: DCWV The Bella Stack

Mojo Monday 73 - February 9, 2010

I enjoy using the sketches from Mojo Monday Blog when I'm having trouble trying to figure out a card. I might have an image in mind that I want to use but can't figure out a way to use it. Thats when I pull out the Mojo Monday Sketches. I usually try to only use each one once (at least until I have used them all...). I bought some Cosmo Cricket paper a while ago and really love it. I've been having a problem actually using my new papers...I like to horde them. But I pushed myself to put these wonderful papers to use.

For this card I used the following:

Cricut Cartridge with Gypsy: A childs Year
Cosmo Cricket: Designer papers "Earth Love & the Boyfriend" Double Deck

Life's a Beach Hibiscus Flower

I really wanted to use this Hibisus cut from the Life's a Beach cartridge. I really like how they turned out. The only thing I'm not happy with is the bee and butterfly stamps. I just couldn't find the right stamp to use as the center piece of this card and I didn't want to have to go buy anything new.

For this card I used the following:

Cricut Cartridge: Life's a Beach for the flowers
Stampin' Up: Bee and Butterfly stamps

Wedding Shower #2

This is the second wedding shower card I made for a girl at work. I just love this Stampin' Up stamp. I stamped this numerous times and then layered for dimension and added stickles. The papers are Stampin' Up as well. Inside I used a Martha Stewart around the page punch for the inside.

Tricycle Project for my Dad

My dad restores old toys and tricycles. Usually he can get decals for these projects, but this one he couldn't find any. He asked me if I could make something for him. "Sure" I said that shouldn't be a problem. The Police on the side of the tricycle we used vinyl which he just put on the tank and clear coated over it. The front on the tricycle we also used vinyl, but he used it as a stencil and painted the negative to get the result. He was extremely happy with the turn out! It was actually my first time using the Cricut Vinyl as well.

For this project I used the following Cricut Cartridges:
Base Camp: Police and Evans Co.
A Childs Year: Star
George and Basic Shapes: Rectangle

Bridal Shower #1

Here is one of the cards I was asked to make for a girl at work. She had a two bridal showers to attend in the same weekend. She said she would really likes my cards and would rather pay me than Hallmark. I'm so glad she has given me an excuse to go hide in my craftroom.

For this card I used the following:
Sweathearts Cricut Cartridge: Birds in nest
Songbird Cricut Cartridge: Labels (behind birds)
Home Accents Cricut Cartridge: Swirl
Paper Dolls for Everyday: Umbrella
Martha Stewart: Around the page punch
Stampin' Up: Boho stamp and punch
