With Sympathy - Place Family

A good friend of the family, Richard "Dick" Place, recently passed away. My sympathies go out to his family. He died at the young age of 66 and leaves his loving wife for whom he had celebrated 48 years of weddin bliss. He will missed very much.

Back from Vacation

Well my son and I returned home last night after spending the last 5 days in Indianapolis, IN for the All State 400 at the Brickyard. Yeah... My first time camping at a NASCAR event. It definately was interesting. I personnally don't drink or party (who needs to when you have crafting to do???), so I was a little out of my confort zone. On top of that, I am socially inept, I beleive that is the correct term. If you asked my friends if I was shy, they would definately tell you NO. But in reality when I am stuck in a room (or field in this case) with a bunch of people I do not know, I have a really hard time socializing. I just kind of freak out. But by day 4 (out of 5), I had finally loosened up a little and was able to talk to my neighbors. They all seemed nice for a bunch of drunks. Sorry guys but that is how you appear to me. Well I have to run to the dentist. I will post more later.

My second self challange

Well I challanged myself for the second time this week. Using the random generator I had to use the letter "t" from the Pooh Font Cart. At the same time I saw a card on the MB by Patty Golden. I scraplifted the basic design.

Card base cut from DS with "Thanks" at 1.5" from Pooh Font welded to 2 rectangles to make the card size A2. Paper is from the Botanical Fashion colors value pack: Dark green.

"Thanks" cut at 1.5" from Pooh Font using Botanical Fashion colors value pack: Brown.

Bottom of from cut using Martha Stewart Border Punch.

Inside layer cut using Martha Stewart Border Punch from Botanical Fashion Value pack: Cream

Buttons from mixed package from J's.

Flowers and brad from Spare Parts.

My own personnal challange

I currently have 31 cricut cartridges (not nearly as many as a would perfer to have). But I find that many of the images are not being used. Some I would probably not use unless I was forced to do so. So I have issued a challange to myself. First I have temporily numbered my cartidges 1 to 31. Then I went on line and used a random number generator to randomly choose which of the 31 cartidges I would use. Also each cartridge has 50 different buttons/images, so again I went to the random generator to choose which one I would use for my card.

So for my first personnal challange the random generator picked the "M" from All Mixed Up. Because this mostly is a font cartidge I used the random generator to pick a second cartidge and image. The second one was the Lady Bug from Walk in My Garden.

So this is what I went with. A girl at work (could you guess her name is Mary??) has a birthday coming up next month and I need a card of course.

  • Card base is a value pack 5" x 6.5" note card.
  • Front layer is from K & Company Brenda Walton Madeline paper pack.
  • Grass cut from Zooballoo at 1.5" from Stampin Up Old Olive. Used Stampin UP Wild Wasabi to ink grass.
  • Tulips cut from Walk In My Garden at 4.5" from Stampin Up Old Olive for stem and leaves and K & Company Brenda Walton Madeline paper pack for the flowers. Used Stampin Up River Rock and Memento Angel Pink to ink stems, leaves and flowers.
  • Lady bug cut from Walk In My Garden at 2" from generic J's black card stock and Stampin Up Real Red. Used StazOn black to ink.

Mini Vacation

Well I will be on a mini vacation with my mom for the next few days. Yeah! Every year for the last 5 or six years, my mom and I have taken time to get away. We both love to go to antique malls, stores and shows. The first year we went went to Gatlinburg, TN. We had so much fun leaving the men at home and just spending some girl time. The next few years we went to Ohio to Toledo, Findlay and Springfield. Well last year we changed it up some and went to Atlantic City, NJ. They have an antique show at the convention center there two times a year. We enjoyed ourselves, but decided that we don't want to travel that far again this year. So off to Ohio tomorrow. We are hoping to find some new places to shop. But will be content with the same ones we have visted before. Hey, its only once a year, so we usually find something we just can't live without. My son will be staying with his aunt and uncle (from his fathers side) and my dad will be staying home alone.

So needless to say, I will not be able to post any new cards this week. What a bummer. Hope anyone who reads this has a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Happy crafting.
